Director, animator, illustrator, and storyboard artist, Rosana Urbes develops animated films, books, and workshops at her production company Planta Filmes in São Paulo, and in other spaces throughout Brazil. She directed and animated “Guida,” an animated film with over 90 national and international awards, including Animamundi, Annecy, and the Havana Film Festival. She worked for 8 years abroad on films such as “Mulan,” “Tarzan,” and “Lilo & Stitch” for Disney studios. The production company is currently developing the animated feature film “Nina” with support from the SPcine Para Desenvolvimento de Obras Audiovisuais grant and the Animadoc Arqueologia da Poesia. The production company launched the short film “Safo,” sponsored by BNDES and supported by SPcine, at the Annecy Festival in June of 2025. The film was awarded the Alexeief Parker Crystal at the Festival. It also received awards at the Animage Festival, kinoforum, Brasília Film Festival, Itaicine, CineFest Aruanda, Stopmotion OurFest in Argentina, Rising of Lusitânia, and selections/honors at the Rio Film Festival, Animateka, Poesia na Tela, Tampere, and Animaí.
