Rita Toledo is a trained anthropologist and is a film and TV writer and producer. Rita wrote and produced I OWE YOU
A LETTER ABOUT BRAZIL (Special Mention IDFA 2019) and produced DIVINE DIVAS (Hot Docs 2017, SXSW 2017
Audience Award, Rio de Janeiro IFF Audience Award and the highest grossing documentary in Brazil in 2017). Rita
created and produced the SONIA SILK OPERATION, a series of three feature films (Harmonica´s Howl, Rio Belongs to
Us and The End of an Age) awarded by the Hubert Bals Fund in 2012 and that premiered at the Rotterdam
International Film Festival in 2013. For TV, Rita created, wrote and was the showrunner for THE LIFE AHEAD, a 10-
episode show for Globoplay, the biggest Brazilian streaming platform. Rita received an MFA in Screenwriting from the
AFI Conservatory (USA) as a recipient of a Fulbright Scholarship (2015-2017). Rita is a Berlinale Talents alumni and is
part of the Paradiso Talents network.
