Gabriel Henk (b. 2003, Texarkana, TX) has roots in the rural South and South Korea and explores themes of life, death, and Southern culture in his work. His films have been showcased at festivals such as Cannes (American Pavilion Emerging Filmmaker Showcase), Newport Beach, and the Hot Springs Documentary Festival, which is Academy Award qualifying. Most recently, he worked with Werner Herzog in the Azores alongside 49 other filmmakers, where they made new work under his guidance, his foundation (Werner Herzog Stiftung), and Extática Cine. He is currently an incoming Directing Fellow at the AFI Conservatory for the class of 2028.
