Abraam Dawod is a Canadian-Egyptian writer, director, producer, and assistant director based in Toronto. Working primarily in documentary and speculative fiction, he has directed 18 short films to date, including the upcoming documentary “BURD”, about 110-year-old World War 2 veteran Burdett “Burd” Sisler, the oldest person in Canada.
His no-budget sci-fi short “My Girl Skelly” screened at 12 festivals internationally and won four awards, including the Audience Award and Jury Award at The Great Canadian Sci-Fi Film Festival. In January 2026, Dawod directed the Portuguese-language short “Hotel Paraíso” on São Miguel Island in the Azores, under the mentorship of Werner Herzog and cinematographer Peter Zeitlinger.
In addition to his directing work, Dawod has worked in production and assistant directing roles on more than 100 productions across film, television, documentaries, commercials, music videos, and shorts, including Amazon Studios’ “Beast Games” and the Canadian feature “BlackBerry”.
